Our logo has a special story behind it. The B with a Butterfly was inspired by the Summer of 2021. Shortly after losing Brooks, we seemed to see white butterflies everywhere we looked. A white butterfly is a symbol of transformation and growth. They are also a symbol that angels are watching over and protecting you, reassuring us that Brooks was always with us.
In the Fall of 2022, we took a family trip to St. John. It coincided with a “butterfly bloom.” Thousands of white butterflies flew around the island, the trees, and the resort. It only lasts a few days and only happens after prolonged droughts. These blooms occur once every 20 years. This brought our hearts such comfort, and again, we just knew it was Brooks showing us that he is always with us.
Shortly after Brooks passed, we were referred to a medium that has been an integral part of our healing journey. At a time of confusion in our family, she told us that our son would present himself as a frog as if to say, “I know you’re skeptical but I need you to know that I am truly always with you”. We weren’t sure, but we trusted in the divine plan and in Brooks’ soul. Four months later, a frog would follow Bryan around a pool and sit feet away from him as he watched a sunset in Nicaragua. Shortly after that, Leigh would open the door to a family condo on vacation, where a tree frog would jump by Landon and into the foyer. He allowed Bryan to scoop him up without hesitation and Landon to touch him while he was placed back in the garden outside. During the first “Brooksy,” Bryan stepped out of a golf cart on a cold, rainy April day nowhere near a lake and onto a frog that had seen better days the year before. We were truly floored and haven’t questioned his signs since.
As we have moved along our healing journey, Brooks’ Aunt Erin introduced us to a spiritual healer who uses unconventional methodologies to clear trauma. One such method was introducing “toad medicine” into our lives. This is something we can speak about, if you care to ask, as it was transformational in our lives and the way we see the universe.
